Loons Shut Out by Cedar Rapids

by @ 11:49 pm. Filed under Great Lakes Loons - April 2007, Michael Gardner, Justin Fuller

The Loons picked up just four hits in their 5-0 loss to Lancaster.  Justin Fuller had the only extra base hit of the game.  He went one for three with a double.

Michael Gardner was roughed up and he lost his first start of the season.  He gave up four runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings.

I listen to the game when they were shut oout and the reason for the lost is that the team is frustrated and wants to win and forgot about simple fundamentals. They need to take their time and wait for their pitch or close to the pitch. Stop swinging at the first pitch. Watch the pattern of the opponent’s pitcher and study him, it’s not hard. Once you do that, the rest will come to you. I know I taught my boys baseball and I am their mother.
