The Loons made up one of their rainout games and the end result was a twin bill loss to Peoria. The Loons didn’t get much hitting in either game and they scored just one run in each. In the first game, a nice start by Clayton Kershaw went to waste. He gave up a run on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Matthew Canepa had two hits and he scored the only run of the game.
In the second game, it just another run and this time the pitching was much worse. Steven Johnson was hit hard for five runs in four innings and he took the loss. The lone run came on a sac. fly by Bridger Hunt. Preston Mattingly continued his struggles and went 0 for 7 in the doubleheader. He’s now hitting just .156 and he’s struck out thirteen times versus zero walks in 32 at bats.
