Travis Smith took the loss in Las Vegas’ 5-3 loss to Tacoma and he dropped to 2-2 on the season. He gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.
Matt Kemp provided most of the offense with a two run homer and that was his second of the season. Tomas Perez went two for four with a doube, a run and an RBI.
Las Vegas topped Colorado Springs 9-5 and a big part of that was a grand slam by Choo Freeman. The centerfielder also walked twice and he finished with three runs. Delwyn Young went two for four with a two RBIs and a run.

Las Vegas had the misfortune of catching Bartolo Colon in a rehab start as they lost to Salt Lake 8-2. It didn’t help that Travis Smith was hit hard. He gave up five runs on ten hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
James Loney was the only player to really get much done at the plate. He went three for four with a run.
Just about everyone was a hitting star in Colorado Springs. Mitch Jones had just one hit but it was a big one. His grand slam in the first inning kicked things off for what would eventually be a 14-5 win. Choo Freeman had four hits and three runs while Andy LaRoche hit his first homerun of the season.
