Las Vegas won again and with a 5-4 win over Portland they made it eight straight. Larry Barnes was the hitting star and he went two for three with a double, a homerun and two RBIs.
Matt Riley improved to 4-1 with two shutout innings of relief. He didn’t give up a hit and he walked one.
Las Vegas and Sacrmento each took a game in their doubleheader. In the first game, Vegas scored two runs in the ninth to tie it but the River Cats scored two in the ninth off of Matt Riley to finish the game up. Luis Maza went two for three while Delwyn Young hit a solo homerun.
In the season game, Vegas got it done and crushed the River Cats 10-4. John Lindsey went two for three with two homeruns, four RBIs and three runs to lead the way at the plate. Casey Hoolrebeke picked up the win and he gave up two unearned runs in two innings of shutout relief.
Choo Freeman doubled home Larry Bigbie in the top of the ninth to win it for Vegas. Freeman finished the game two for three and Delwyn Young went two for four with a double.
D.J. Houlton was solid in his start but he didn’t get the decision. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Matt Riley picked up the win with 2 2/3 shutout innings.
The Suns blew a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth and it was a rough outing by Matt Riley that put them down. He gave up four runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts in two innings. The loss drops him to 0-1 on the season.
John Lindsey hit a two run homer and that was his fifth of the season. Xavier Paul had a nice day at the plate in the 8-6 loss. He went three for five with two doubles and a run.
