Las Vegas made a run at a comeback in their 9-8 loss but they fell just short. Joe Mays had a rough start and he gave up five runs on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings. B.J. LaMura took the loss when he gave up the deciding run in the eighth inning.
Delwyn Young had a nice game. He was a perfect four for four with three doubles, a run and an RBI. James Loney went two for four with two doubles, three RBIs and a run.
Las Vegas lost 6-5 to the River Cats but Tony Abreu had a very nice game at the plate. He went four for five with a double, a triple, three RBIs and a run. Larry Barnes went one for three with a walk, an RBI and two runs.
Joe Mays had a medicore start. He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings. Matt White took the loss when he gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth.
It’s hard to believe that the 51s actually had the lead in this one. They were up 6-4 before three different relievers gave up two runs each in the seventh, eighth and nine innings in the 10-6 loss. It’s not like they blew a great start by Joe Mays (fours runs on seven hits in six innings) or anything but the run support was there for the win.
Ken Huckaby had three hits and two RBIs. Mitch Jones doubled twice and drove in two runs. Matt Kemp went 0 for 3 as he made his Las Vegas debut after some time with the big league club. It’s a shame he got sent down because was hitting the ball well for the Dodgers but I guess they just don’t have enough room.
Joe Mays got it done for the 51s with a great pitching performance. He gave up just a single run on four hits and two walks with one strikeouts in seven innings of work.
James Loney had the big hit of the game. His bases loaded clearing triple accounted for three of the five 51s runs in the 5-1 win.
Joe Mays took it on the nose in Las Vegas’ 7-3 loss to Salt Lake. He gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk with no strikeouts in five innings. Casey Hoorelbeke was also knocked around for two runs on five hits in two innings of work. It also didn’t help that the defense made three errors.
Delwyn Young was the only Las Vegas hitter with two hits. He singled twice and scored a run.
