The Lugnuts needed ten innings but they beat Burlington 6-5. It was an error that led to the winning run in the bottom of the tenth when Scott Van Slyke scored after Adolfo Gonzalez reached base on an error. Gonzalez finished the game with three hits and James Peterson went two for five with a double and two RBIs.
Thomas Melgarejo picked up the win with a shutout tenth inning. He improved to 4-5 on the season.
The Loons needed just about all of their eleven runs to beat South Bend 11-9. Bridger Hunt led the way at the plate in a very nice game. He went four for five with three RBIs and three runs. James Peterson went three for five with a double and three RBIs while Preston Mattingly continued his hot stretch by going two for five with a triple a run and an RBI.
Thomas Melgarejo was roughed up but he picked up the win with all of the offense. He improved to 1-4 on the season and he gave up six runs on eight hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Loons’ pitchers were hit hard by the Lugnuts in a 10-3 loss. Arismendy Castillo was knocked around in his start and he dropped to 1-2 on the season. He gave up six runs on six hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
James Peterson was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for three and he belted a two run homer.
Three different Loons went yard in their 9-2 win over the Cougars. Eduardo Perez had a particularly good day and he went three for five with a homerun and three runs scored. James Peterson went three for five with a homerun and two RBIs.
Cody White picked up the win with five solid innings and he improved to 3-4 on the season. He gave up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
