Thomas Melgarejo gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Loons lost to Beloit 7-6. Earlier in the game, the Loons had blown a 5-1 lead after Beloit scored five runs in the sixth inning.
Matthew Berezay went three for four with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run. Francisco Lizarraga went two for five with a solo homerun and two runs.
Cody White improved to 8-5 on the season with a nice start in the Loons 2-1 win over South Bend. He gave up just one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in eight innings.
Juan Apodaca went two for three in the win. Francisco Lizarraga doubled and he scored one of the Loons two runs.
The Loons beat Burlington 7-4 and it was Adolfo Gonzalez who had a perfect day at the plate. He went four for four with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Francisco Lizarraga and Eduardo Perez each had two hits, two RBIs and a run.
Arismendy Castillo had a nice start in the win. He gave up one run on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts in six innings of work.
Thomas Melgarejo took it on the chin in his second loss of the season as the Loons dropped a 5-4 game to the White Caps. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Eduardo Perez hit a solo homerun in the loss. Francisco Lizarraga went two for five with a double and two runs.
Steven Johnson was knocked around by Lansing today in a 6-2 loss. He gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in just two innings.
The Loons didn’t get much offense. Francisco Lazarraga went went one for three with a walk and a run.
After a rainout yesterday, the Loons and Fort Wayne played two with each team taking one. In the first game, Great Lakes was blown out 9-3 behind a rough outing by Joshua Wall. Preston Mattingly provided most of the Loons offense with a triple and he drove in all three runs. Mattingly’s off to a rough start so far (one for thirteen) and this was his first hit in the Loons first four games.
Game two went a bit better as the Loons won it 5-2. Clayton Kershaw got it done on the mound and he picked up the win. He threw five shutout innings and gave up just one hit with seven strikeouts in five innings. Francisco Lizarraga and Michael Rivera each drove in two runs in the win.
The Loons got some pretty good pitching in their win over Fort Wayne. Thomas Melgarejo had a mediocre start and he gave up two runs on four hits but the pen was awesome. Michael Gardner improved to 2-o with three shutout innings and then Francisco Felix threw two no hit innings to pick up the save.
Francisco Lizarraga had a nice day at the plate in the 3-2 win. He went four for five with a run.
