The Loons got plenty of offense in their 10-4 win over Quad Cities. The game was called after seven because of rain but that didn’t stop the Loons from running up the score. Carlos Santana was the hitting star in the win. He went two for two with a walk, a double, a homerun, two runs and three RBIs. Matthew Berezay also made a big contribution with a three run homer.
David Pfeiffer picked up the win. He gave up one hit and two walks with one strikeout in three shutout innings of relief.
A pretty good start by Joshua Wall went to waste as the Loons pen collapsed in a 7-5 loss to Burlington. Thomas Melgarejo gave up three runs and he got just one hitter out while David Pfeiffer gave up two runs in two innings and he took the loss.
Thomas Giles went three for five with a triple, a run and an RBI. Matthew Berezay singled three times, scored a run and drove in one.
David Pfiffer had a tough time in two relief innings in Inland Empire’s 10-5 loss to Stockton. He gave up four runs on five hits and four walks with three strikeouts and the rough outing ballooned Pfiffer’s ERA to 14.54.
Russel Mitchell went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Travis Denker went three for five with a double, an RBI and a run.
Inland Empire won their second straight game and this time they did it with an eleven inning shutout. Lucas May singled home Blake DeWitt in the bottom of the eleventh for the only run of a great pitchers duel.
