The Loons got plenty of offense in their 10-4 win over Quad Cities. The game was called after seven because of rain but that didn’t stop the Loons from running up the score. Carlos Santana was the hitting star in the win. He went two for two with a walk, a double, a homerun, two runs and three RBIs. Matthew Berezay also made a big contribution with a three run homer.
David Pfeiffer picked up the win. He gave up one hit and two walks with one strikeout in three shutout innings of relief.
The Loons picked up just five hits and while they made them count and scored three runs, it wasn’t enough to beat Fort Wayne in a 5-3 loss. Carlos Santana was one the hitting stars in the loss and he went two for four with two RBIs. Preston Mattingly continued his solid stretch and he went two for four with a double and an RBI.
Garrett White fell to 1-3 on the season. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
The Loons picked up two wins in one game with a doubleheader sweep over Clinton. They took the first game 4-2 behind a solid outing by Steven Johnson. He gave up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Carlos Santana provided most of the offense with a three run homer.
In the second game, the bats got going and the Loons won it 7-4. Kenley Johnson hit a two run homer and Matthew Berezay hit a solo shot. Preston Mattingly went two for four as he tries to hit himself out of his slump and Miguel Ramirez picked up the win with two innings of solid relief pitching.
