The Isotopes, the Dodgers top affiliate, is off to a good start this year with a 13-9 record. That’s good for second place and they trail first place Round Rock by just one win. Jerry Sands has been simply killing the ball. He’s hitting an even .400 with five home runs and seventeen RBIs. He has an unreal .875 slugging percentage and he’s only struck out three times in 40 at bats. Alberto Bastardo has been one of the better starters with a 2-0 record, a 3.57 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings.
The Lookouts are an even 12-12 and while they’re in fourth place, they’re only 3 1/2 games back of first. Scott Van Slyke is the big hitter at this level and he’s pounding the ball almost as well as Sands. He has a 1.137 OPS with four home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs. Rubby De La Rosa has been one of the better starters. He’s 2-1 with 29 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA in 21 1/3 innings.
The Quakes are in first place in their division with a 14-9 record. Tony Delmonico and Gorman Erickson have both had nice months with OPS’ over 1.000. Allen Webster has pitched well and he’s 3-2 with 31 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA in 29 1/3 innings. The Loons are also off to a nice start with a 14-9 record. Jonathon Garcia has seven home runs and sixteen RBIs and Zach Lee is 3-0 in five starts with 27 strikeouts and a 1.09 ERA.
